We offer

Our u3a offers opportunities for members to explore new ideas, expand knowledge and learn new skills by participating in activities and also enjoying social interactions.

The Interest Groups and Event pages provide more information on the types of participatory opportunities available to members.

We are about getting involved in activities and fun learning to enjoy life.

Our membership is open to anyone who has time to spare.

Together with u3a Third Age Trust

It is one the largest membership based organisations in the UK with more than 420,000 members. In fact, the u3a movement is a worldwide organisation, originating in France in 1972. The vision of the Trust is to make learning, laughing and healthy living a reality for the members of 1000 u3a groups in the UK.

Our members can participate in national u3a online interest groups, events and workshops.

There is much more for you to explore and enjoy.

Current Chair

Welcome to the Wilmslow u3a website. We hope that, if you are not currently a member, you will consider joining us.

Why do people join a u3a? In my case, I joined soon after being widowed and starting to work part-time; I was looking for some 'things to do'. I certainly found that. As well as being the current Chairman, I lead the Croquet Group and attend the Science Group meetings. I have even given a talk to the Science Group in the sprit of sharing knowledge and experience in a relaxed, social environment, which is the ethos of the u3a movement.

There are many other reasons to join - e.g. you already know a member, or you have a particular interest you want to pursue, or you want to increase your social circle. If we don't currently have a group in a particular area of interest, why not come and set one up? Our u3a represents something different to each member, by acting together we can provide a framework of interesting and rewarding activities attractive to a wide range of people.

Best wishes,

Peter
